Who Are We?

The MGCSC is a volunteer-based non-profit organization whose members are passionate and dedicated to helping save the worlds critically endangered mountain and lowland gorillas in Africa.

Our Purpose is to advance education by providing scholarships and other forms of financial assistance to students pursuing a university education in veterinary medicine in Uganda, Rwanda and/or the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Our mission is to increase the number of veterinarians in the field, to monitor and provide the highest level of veterinary care to wild gorillas suffering from life-threatening illness or injury.

By increasing the numbers of veterinarians in the field, we are helping to secure the future of wild gorillas in order to increase their population.

With only 1004 mountain gorillas left in the world, Conservation is key.

Every individual Gorilla matters.

The loss of even a few individuals impacts their kin,

social groups, and genetic diversity.

That's why preserving their health and the populations that influence their habitat is so important.

We would like to thank everyone for their support over the past ten years. Through your donations and participating in our fundraising events; the Edmonton Gorilla Run and Edmonton Ice Cream Run

we are well on our way to providing our first two scholarships.
